One thing I never thought I would see is a bobcat on the beach. Never say never, I guess. Last week, at Tennessee Valley, someone told me that I had just missed a bobcat eating a snake near the beach.
So I headed that way, stopping where the snake encounter took place to look at the hillside. I almost turned around, figuring that the cat would not go to the beach. But then I saw an animal walking on the beach. Dogs are not allowed in Tennessee Valley, and it was, in fact, the bobcat I have been encountering a lot lately. I snapped a few shots with the ocean in the background.

Unfortunately, the cat did not linger at the beach for me to take more shots of him.

He headed to the hillside, where he seemed to sit and enjoy the view for a while before heading back towards the heart of Tennessee Valley. He picked his way through the grass and wildflowers.

He then hopped back down on the trail and walked mere feet from me and my tripod. I had actually never come anywhere near that close to a bobcat. Awestruck, I just watched him saunter by and wished him well.

Bobcat Visits the Beach

That's fantastic, Jen. I was hoping he'd go to the beach when I last saw him. I've seen cat tracks in the sand down there, but still haven't seen a cat actually in the sand. Great sighting, and the shot with the ocean in the background is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteOnce again, excellent photos. Thanks for sharing.

Great shot with the ocean in the background. It adds a different element than most bobcat pics.
